Shelby Nower is the art director of The Hive, a gallery and makerspace in Decatur, Indiana. She also works as a muralist and fine artist who specializes in creating psychedelic, colorful characters on a large scale. She graduated from Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis as a drawing and illustration major. Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Shelby has made her home in Decatur, Indiana. She has collaborated with artists like Greg Mendez, Charles Yost, and Neil Wiffill. She is a member of the creative group Artisan Collective Enterprise 40.8 (ACE 40.8). Driven by a love of public art, Shelby strives to bring her 1960s inspired works to the community for all to experience and enjoy.
